Come like a gazelle.
Leap like a wild stag
on the spice mountains."
Song of Solomon 8:14
This is a prophetic piece of art, an image "kissed my God" created by by James Nesbit. It is stunning in its ability to enamor all of the senses at once; the lap of the water, the rustle of the dress, the scent of perfume...
The bride, baptized in glory, dressed in her finest garment stands staring down the hall waiting for her King-Lover to enter. Her dress is pulled up not to stay dry but to allow her to run without stumbling into the arms of her long-awaited one.
This image has stolen my mind and changed my marriage.
Our marriages are to be visible expressions of this passion here on earth.
I know of few days when wives or husbands look so put together and ready. We have two young children and my wife works full-time so we can do our ministry. Her arms are either full of children, laundry or groceries most day but she waits for Jesus with her dress clinched in her hands.
Today the Lord has reminded me to see her as she really is.
It is our tenth anniversary today. Our lives have been filled with the highest of highs and the lowest of lows. We have wept at the death of our first son and at the birth of our two daughters. We have lost friends and made friends. We have kissed and scowled.
We have been thoughtful and forgetful. Forgiving and spiteful. We have laughed and yelled.
We have behaved with each other as God's bride has with the Bridegroom.
But always we have remembered that we made a covenant to each other and to God ten years ago today;

Where you go, I go
until death do us part
Covenants are not convenient nor comfortable. If they were they would not be necessary. But I have found that my marital covenant has been such a blessing, because it keeps me within the confines of what God desires in my life and marriage. And that is nothing short of radiant joy.
I have been kissed by God through my wife. Happy Anniversary beloved.
